Watercolor paper and watercolor paint, plus a little bit of bookbinding glue, these are the materials for the method I have developed, inspired by the many traditions of flower making and paper crafts. My main tools are tiny scissors and a pointy paintbrush, and it is a slow process that produces little waste. I never use ready-made parts or templates. I’m most interested in flowers that grow in my own surroundings, the city edges of Amsterdam, or those I come across in any public space or wild environment. I went to traditional art school when I was very young, and later did Critical Studies at an art academy. I also have a Masters degree in Art History. In recent years I have built on my education, and has become a certified guide, and I work within that field too, as a Museum and City Guide in Amsterdam.
